Gustav's Guide to Hurricane Survival

Lessons Learned During and After the Storm The hurricane grouch quotient can be calculated by adding the number of children and pets in a home without power, multiplied by the number of days quoted on the Entergy telephone recording, divided by the number of fans or portable air conditioners powered by your home generator, (however if you were last in line at Home Depot and have no generator then multiply by the daily high for that day reported by either Pat Shingleton or Jay Grymes), then add… Continue

CO Needs Help-writing the Commissioning Article

Hey there! In case anyone hasn't noticed, I've been rather quiet lately. There is a great reason for this-well, I got a new job (insert groans...yes another one!!!). I'm now a Supply Chain Analyst for FMOLHS (the organization that runs the Lake, Our Lady of Lourdes, St. E's). Obviously, my time has been crunched-no more putzing on the internet all day. If everyone could comment on what their favorite part of the Commissioning was, and maybe a story or theree that would be excellent! I'll also b… Continue

What a great beginning...

It's Monday, I'm tired, I'm sore, I have no voice, but I'm extremely excited about the future of activities here in Region Three. I just got back from my first event attended since being named VRC South. The USS Corsair throws quite a party, believe you me. There were eleven of us from the Austin area in attendace, in addition to folks from San Antonio, Lubbock, and Houston. I got to hear some of the After Action Report-type chatter from folks on the way home from my slice of the attendees, and… Continue

Video Production Notes-March 28, 2008

Attending: Trisha and Edward Tunis Gail Danny, Danyele, Taysha and Kaleb Tutt We are going to start work on a video podcast featuring Chapter activities, no longer then 10 minutes. There would only be… Continue

It was a quite Meetup this month, just the Klingon and I, but I feel we got a great relationship going. Denzil, of the KAG ship I.K.V. K'Vette stopped by and we chatted about the different structure of KAG vs. SFI. (KAG is a lot less paperwork, whoo hoo!), the Star Trek Movie, fandom and hopefully doing some joint events in the near future. Denzil is looking for assistance on costuming, so look for a Klingon sometime soon at our Sewing Circle. Kaleb was injured last night, and well wishes go ou… Continue

Star Trek Meetup-Feb. 28th Meeting Wrap up

Thank you to everyone who came last night to Star Trek Meetup! It was nice to see a new face (Hey there, Mike!) and catch up with everyone on the latest happenings. The first item on the agenda was going over the calendar of events. We decided to cancel the Easter gift wrapping-I just haven't had the time to call anyone, set it up, and advertise. If someone wants to take point on this for Christmas and handle it, I would be thrilled. I can walk you through it, and it would be a great idea for C… Continue

New Starfleet International website Review

Hi! For those that haven't noticed, Starfleet International's website has gotten a long overdue makeover. Click over and see what you think... This is a work in progress, so I expect there will be improvements aplenty over the next several months. I like the overall layout of the site, which is good and easy to follow. Not sure about the baby blue color..but maybe it's just me. The graphic of the ship does need some tweaking to fix the fuzzy edges, that backgrou… Continue

Be Kind, Rewind aka..the countdown begins!

Gail and I spend two evenings at the Rave theater off of O'neal mixing and chatting with the crowd. We were both surprized at the warm reception we received by the theater staff and management. Shout out to David, and Tristan (the new promotions manager) who hosted us, and had a great deal of fun discussing Trek, movies, and the world of sci fi. Friday was much busier then Saturday, we started the table both days about 5 PM, and Friday it was packed almost continuously. Saturday...was a tad slo… Continue
